UWO alumnus sets new world record

As first mentioned on UW Oshkosh Today, a UWO alumnus has set a world record doing 1,506,911 pushups.

Nate Carroll of Winneconne, a UWO grad from 2000, set the new world record for the most pushups in a year last summer.

Carrol stated that he “broke it down day by day, hour by hour, and focused on the chunk of time.”

With every passing hour, Carroll averaged 4,000 pushups a day for 365 days.

At Metlife Stadium on June 6, 2021, Carroll broke the previous 32-year record as part of the 48th annual Fun City Bowl which is a full padded football game between the New York Police Department and New York Fire Department.

Carroll’s astounding record received attention from Fox News and Newsweek along with raising $50,000 for Tunnel Towers, a foundation that “honors military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country after 9/11.”

At the age of 46, Carroll has backed off the pushups and transitioned to running 3 miles every day as part of a plan for 2022.
