Winnebago County District Attorney Gossett resigns

Winnebago County district attorney Christian Gossett announced his resignation.

Top prosecutor and district attorney Christian Gossett has just announced his resignation, effective May 7 of this year.

In the letter shared by Governor Tony Evers’ office, the prosecutor of over 15 years wrote “At this time, I believe it is in my and my family’s best interest for me to step back from the obligations that are unique to this position.”

Gossett was first appointed in 2006 and has held the role ever since.

His seat, with a term set to end in 2025, will be filled by Governor Evers and this team. Gosset added in his letter, “I believe it is an ideal time to take this step as our office is functioning at a very high level, with an extremely competent team.”
