Sunday marked meteorological Spring

By Chandler Brindley

Sunday marked the first official day of Spring 2022.

Equinoxes occur twice a year, one marking Spring and the other marking Fall, symbolizing the path when the Sun crosses Earth’s equator.

The Spring equinox occurred in Wisconsin, at 10:33 a.m. Sunday.

On the day of both the Spring and Fall Equinoxes, the length of day and night is exactly the same.

The Autumnal equinox will occur September 22.

The reason, refraction of sunlight or how the sunlight is bending causing the sun to look like it is above the horizon, but is really below the horizon.

Since December, the days have continued to get longer and will continue to do so until we reach the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
