On April 24th, the New York Jets acquired Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In return, the Packers will receive the No. 13 pick in this year’s NFL draft, as well as a second-round pick, a sixth-round pick and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that can potentially become a first-round pick. With all those moves happening, the question is: Will the Jets gain anything from this trade, or will it bite them later down the road?
Admittedly, Rodgers wasn’t his normal self last year as he threw for 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. But even at his worst, Rodgers is still light years better than any QB’s the Jets have. Mike White, Zach Wilson, and Joe Flacco combined last year for a grand total of 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Let’s not forget whose Rodgers supporting cast is on the Jets too. Rodgers has not had a truly reliable WR since Davante Adams was traded last season. Now Aaron Rodgers can pass to multiple reliable receivers that can get open when Rodgers scrambles. Breece Hall is now coming back from injury, last year’s rookie Garrett Wilson (who passed 1,100 yards receiving), Corey Davis, and Elijah Moore.
You can’t forget about the Jets amazing defense last year. The Jets were 1st in overall touchdowns and 5th in yards allowed. With all these pieces coming together, it’s not crazy to think the New York Jets have a shot at the Superbowl with the addition of Aaron Rodgers.
