A piece of history is coming to Oshkosh this summer. B-29 Doc is set to make an appearance at EAA AirVenture. B-29s are Boeing airplanes that were used to drop bombs during World War Two. Both of the planes that dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were B-29s. Doc, the name of the B-29 coming to Oshkosh, is one of only two remaining airworthy planes of its kind. Doc was taken from the Mojave Desert in 1987. It has undergone thirty years of restorations to make it airworthy today. Doc flew in air shows in 2017, including at AirVenture. When Doc comes to Oshkosh in July, there will be opportunities to participate in flights. Flights aboard are offered through Doc’s Friends organization. AirVenture will take place from July 25th to July 31st. Advance tickets to AirVenture are currently on sale, with EAA member rates and early-bird discounts available.
