Geiger retires after 30 years at Oshkosh Humane Society.

After a 30 year tenure as Director of the Oshkosh Humane Society, Joni Geiger is
retiring after a long and remarkable career with the shelter.

In 1990 the Humane Society was crowded, small, and wasn’t able to properly accommodate the needs of the animals that lived there. Under Geiger’s management, the shelter has grown
to a 13,000 square foot compex over the past three decades.

Geiger says her greatest accomplishments as director include the work she has done to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets and turning the shelter into a no-kill shelter in 2009.

Geiger’s last day is set to be this week.

Jessica Miller, who has worked as the Humane Society’s donor relations coordinator for the past 9 years, will be taking over the position.

Miller says as Executive Director she hopes to follow in Geiger’s
footsteps by managing situations in the same manner she believes Geiger would.
