UW Oshkosh to lift campus mask requirements, with exceptions, beginning March 1

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will be lifting its requirements for masks in nearly all buildings on campus beginning March 1 following UW System president Tommy Thompson’s announcement.

Masks will no longer have to be worn beginning March 1, 2022 on all three UWO campuses unless in a classroom, lab, the COVID-19 testing center or the student health center.

Although masks will no longer be required, there is still recommendation that they be worn while on any of the UWO campuses.

Chancellor Andrew Leavitt stated that “I am encouraged by the level of vaccination and by the low case rates on our campuses. As we continue to lift mask requirements, you are encouraged to continue wearing a mask, particularly if you have individual health concerns or concerns for vulnerable family members and friends. We respect the individual decisions peers and colleagues will make.”

UWO’s COVID-19 dashboard via The Advance-Titan:

– 74% of students and 78% of employees have reported that they are vaccinated.

– The seven-day aggregate positive test rate is 4.1% as of Feb. 17 with 23 active cases, all on the Oshkosh campus.
