UWO Named Best Schools for Men in Nursing 5th year in a row

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College Nursing (CON) was named one of the top schools for men in nursing. Dominic Lee reports.

This year marks the fifth year of UWO’s College of Nursing that was named one of the nation’s best schools for men in nursing. The award was called the Associations 2021 Best Schools for Men in Nursing. This award recognizes a nursing school or college that has provided significant efforts in providing men a supportive educational environment and education facility for the nursing profession.

It took place on October 21st through the 23rd where a total of 9 universities around the nation were honored at the conference. Jason Mott, who is a AAMN member and Pre-Licensure Program director for CON, said that receiving the reward is a huge accomplishment and shows just how big CON demonstrates the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In addition, this year was the first time that the UWO Great Lakes AAMN Chapter was named AAMN Chapter of the Year. Presented to the best chapter at a national level, the AAMN Chapter of the Year award recognizes chapters that have gone above and beyond in promoting the inclusion of men in nursing. Mott states, “Winning the chapter of the year award rewards the students for the hard work and time they have put into the chapter and the University community as a whole. It gives them the recognition of being the best chapter of AAMN in the entire nation.” Even though this a huge accomplishment, there is still progress to be made toward nursing inclusively on campus
